How Soilux Works

  STEP 01  

Add your food waste

Add everyday food scraps directly into Soilux as you go.

Soilux is designed to handle most common household food waste, including:

• fruit and vegetable scraps
• eggshells and soft bones
• cooked leftovers
• bread, rice, pasta and grains
• meat and fish scraps
• coffee grounds and tea bags

Liquids, oils, hard bones, plastics, and non-food waste should be kept out to help the system run efficiently.

Close the lid and you’re done.

  STEP 02  

A controlled composting process

Inside Soilux, food waste is processed through a carefully managed cycle that combines:

• Gentle drying
• Consistent mixing
• Controlled airflow

This reduces moisture, breaks down waste, and helps create a stable compost output that’s easier to store and handle than traditional compost.

The system automatically adjusts based on how much food waste you add, so you don’t need to set timers or change settings.

  STEP 03  

Microbes do the quiet work

During setup, a microbial tablet is added to Soilux. This introduces beneficial microbes that support the composting process inside the unit.

They help:

• Break down food waste efficiently
• Maintain consistent performance
• Improve overall compost quality

Once added, the microbes work quietly in the background. You don’t need to add a tablet every time. Leaving a small amount of existing compost in the unit helps maintain microbial activity between cycles.

  STEP 04  

Odour control, built in

Soilux is designed for indoor use, which means odour control matters.

An activated carbon filter helps capture odours during operation, making Soilux suitable for kitchens, apartments, and shared living spaces when used as intended.

For most households, the filter is typically replaced around every six months, depending on usage.

  STEP 05  

Quiet, everyday operation

Soilux is built to fit into everyday routines.

It runs quietly enough for day-to-day living and can be placed directly in the kitchen without becoming a distraction. The enclosed design also helps keep pests and mess out of the equation.

There’s no need to monitor it constantly. Add scraps, let it run, and get on with your day.

  STEP 06  

Simple cleaning and care

Maintenance is designed to be straightforward.

Soilux includes a dedicated clean mode and components that are easy to access once cooled. Regular care helps the system continue performing as intended over time.

There’s no complicated disassembly or specialist servicing required.

  STEP 07  

Use your compost when it suits you

• Use it on plants or gardens
• Combine it with soil or other compost
• Store it until you’re ready to use it

There’s no rush and no smell, making it far easier to manage than traditional composting methods
